Caritas still without a Home as Our Founder lands in Toronto

Father Gianni Carparelli arrived late Friday afternoon from London, England to spend a week in Toronto. He was greeted by the President of the Family Association, Tony Manco and the Associate Executive Director, Ramin Deravian (picture below). He was shocked to hear of the events that had occured.

Father Gianni in Toronto

As messages of support and solidarity start flooding from the Internet and the phone lines, we ask for every one’s patience. There will be another press release issued tomorrow. A press conference is also in the works the details of which will be forthcoming in the next few days. We did suffer sudden interruption and access  to our communication systems due to the lock-out imposed by the landlord, however as of yesterday we re-routed the help-lines, the hot-line and the general inquiry line to a mobile phone system.  Our main line 416-748-9988 is active again. We would like to ask the members of media to contact our direct number at 416-748-9988 or send a message to pr@caritas.ca

Caritas has been a tenant in good standing for 15 years, but when the negotiations over a paving invoice between the Board of Directors of Caritas and the representative of Femola Builders, Mr. Mark Zanette, broke down we found a Notice of Distress with new locks on the front doors of the Centre.

On Friday the Bailiff denied access despite our legal rights!

Despite our repeated requests on Friday February 19th, the Bailiff did not allow us to enter the premises. We have since heard back from the Landlord’s solicitor that arrangements can be discussed by contacting the Bailiff again. We are in the process of re-organizing and planning. The Board of Directors met earlier on today so please check back soon for our press release.
